Opening Spring 2018, St. Anthony’s Senior Care Hospital will fulfill the need for inpatient senior behavioral health services in Wichita, KS and the surrounding area.

 

This 20 bed hospital will be open 24/7, offering private rooms with private bathrooms, counseling, medical care, medication management and more. Our team includes geriatric psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed social workers, as well as art and music therapists.

 

Our goal is to offer a comfortable and quiet place to heal while providing a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. We take extra care to avoid re-hospitalization, diagnosing behavioral health issues as needed, and offering programs for dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other cognitive impairments.

Description

We are looking for Certified Nursing Aides (CNA) who improve the lives of our rehab patients by administering world class care. Ideally, these nurses value hard work and good working relationships, are organized, have great time management skills, and show compassion.

 

The CNA provides direct care to hospital patients. This direct care includes: feeding, hydrating, toileting, transferring, ambulating, grooming, positioning, range of motion, restorative nursing tasks, activities, cleaning rooms and bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, doing patient and hospital laundry, setting the dining room table, passing room trays and snacks, pouring beverages, removing dirty dishes from the table.

 

As a CNA, you will also be attentive and emotionally supportive of patients and their families.

 

You will report to the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing (DON), and the hospital administrator.

 

Daily Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with personal tasks such as feeding assistance, hydration, toileting, bathing, personal hygiene, transferring, ambulating, grooming, positioning, range of motion, restorative nursing and other activities of daily living.
  • Assists with psychosocial groups and activities.  Provides the setup, encouragement, transportation and direct involvement for activities specific to the patient's interest.
  • Helps provide nutrition to patients that includes:  passing ice, providing snacks, setting the dining room tables, pouring drinks, sitting down with patients to eat, clearing the dining room tables after meals and cleaning them.
  • Occasionally helps with light cooking, running the dish-washing machine and cleaning the kitchen.
  • Cleans patient rooms and bathrooms.  Cleaning includes vacuuming; dusting; emptying the trash; cleaning toilets, sinks, showers and floors.
  • Helps clean the common areas, including the living room and dining area, laundry room, nurse station and other areas.
  • Completes patient and hospital laundry.  These duties include:  retrieving, sorting, washing, drying, folding and returning patient laundry to their rooms.  It further includes washing, drying, folding and putting away hospital linens and other laundry items.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Provides information for the Quality Assurance Committee's weekly and monthly meetings.  Documents and reports potential and actual issues that affect quality care and services.
  • Documents care in the CareTracker electronic medical record and/or in other medical record systems.
  • Maintains personal and staff compliance to all State and Federal requirements including:  bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control and fire safety.
  • Monitors personal and staff compliance to Patients' Rights.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current State Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification
  • In acceptable standing with the Nurse Aide Registry as applicable

 

Requirements

  • Must be able to operate cleaning and medical equipment: vital signs machine / monitor, oxygen concentrator, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, nebulizer, glucometer, mechanical lifts, whirlpool, pages, telephone, copy/scan/fax machine and computer.

 

Working Conditions

  • Medical environment.
  • May require standing up or walking for up to 80% of the time.
  • Required to use assistance when attempting to assist, lift, or carry objects over 25 lbs.
