The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining, incorporating, and accurately accounting for all medical records on each individual resident in the facility.
Provides information for the Quality Assurance Committee's weekly and monthly meetings. Documents and reports potential and actual issues that affect quality care and services.
Audits and thins all medical charts at least every 90 days.
Closes and files discharged resident medical charts. Reviews charts of discharged residents for deficient information. Ensures compliance for correction of deficient documentation.
Files resident medical information on a timely basis in the resident's chart in chronological order. Assures that each section of the resident's record is maintained in a neat, organized and readable format.
Ensures that Physician orders, telephone orders and other records requiring signatures are received and filed within the required time frame.
Maintains effective communication with others, both inside and outside the department, to give or obtain needed information or coordinate resident activities (such as doctors' appointments).
Ensure that residents are seen by their physicians.
Ensures that routine lab work is completed and filed in the required time frames.
Assures personal and staff compliance to all State and Federal regulations including bloodborne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials and fire safety.
Helps transports residents.
Files as necessary.
Other duties as required from time-to-time.
Applicants must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Applicants must have a working knowledge of medical terminology, computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), and copy / scan / fax machine.
