The Laser Welding Engineer will work with state of the art Fiber lasers and processing equipment to develop applications for high power and hybrid Laser/MIG welding technologies. The ideal applicant is a hands-on person who enjoys working in a fast paced lab environment, developing laser process technologies for customers and in house projects. The role will be heavily involved in laser processing of materials with High power KW class lasers for welding, and other innovative laser metal joining processes. The candidate must have exposure to basic metallurgy and weld characterization of various ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Work closely with customers and sales team to develop and manage assigned projects.


  • Develop, log and maintain Process recipes for laser welding of thick metals such as steels, Aluminum and Titanium alloys.
  • Demonstrate and operate robotic welding cell for process development and customer samples.
  • Develop innovative solutions for Laser/MIG hybrid applications.
  • Investigate and analyze new materials and weld joints.
  • Develops weld fixtures.
  • Stays abreast of new welding technologies that have possible applications with company products.
  • Customer service focused skills; strong professional communications, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Support of engineering development activities, sales support and customer applications development.


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or welding engineering is required. Master’s or higher degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in high power laser welding in an industrial environment is required.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC or robotic system programming is required.
  • Experience with metallographic equipment is a plus.
  • Strong technical and specification writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills with proven ability to mentor and inspire colleagues.
  • Proficient use of Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Light travel required occasionally for tradeshows, conferences and troble shooting at customer sites.



This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22C.F.R. §120.15 are required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee.   License exception Technology and software under restriction (TSR) defined in 15 CFR 740.6 may permit person from Country Group B.
