The Paid, Summer Intern will assist the office in planning, implementation, and analysis of ongoing programs and events in Youth Ministry and the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC).  Specific goals and objectives will be communicated to the intern at the beginning of employment.

POSITION TITLE:

Youth Ministry Intern

DEPARTMENT:

Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC)

REPORTS TO:

Coordinator, Youth Ministry

HOURS PER WEEK:  30
 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with the supervisor to determine the scope and time table for specific projects as they are assigned
  • Active collaboration with supervisor and the OEC staff on assigned responsibilities
  • Regular, ongoing, and open communication with supervisor about assigned responsibilities
  • On-site preparation, set-up, and supervision of assigned youth events
  • Plan and lead activities at assigned youth events
  • Direct relational ministry with adolescents in specific program contexts
  • Respectful and effective communication and collaboration with parish youth ministers, program volunteers, and parents
  • Assistance with office administrative tasks (i.e. registrations and document prep)
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

 

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time productively and effectively
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Discretion and ability to keep knowledge gained from work in strict confidence
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities in ministry situations
  • Ability to represent the Archdiocese of Omaha in a professional manner
  • Good skills with office systems, including:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point  and Publisher 
    • Outlook

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Degree or Area of Study:  Theology, Philosophy, or other ministry related field

Year of Study:  Junior or Senior

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  •  25%; inter-campus, parish, and event-site travel
