The Archdiocese of Omaha has an exciting opportunity for a friendly and welcoming person who would enjoy working directly with couples as they discern the vocation of marriage.  The chosen individual will be an onsite representative of the Center for Family Life Formation at various parishes, responsible for coordination and support for marriage preparation.  This part-time position is approximately 25 hours every two weeks.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting the process and relationships integral to marriage preparation in the Archdiocese of Omaha.  This person will be a representative of marriage preparation and is responsible for creating and sustaining a welcoming environment for engaged couples.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Weekend Marriage Preparation Workshops
    • Assist with recruitment, training, formation, and support of volunteers connected with Marriage preparation
    • Provide onsite support for bi-monthly events by helping with planning, packing, set up/clean up, and facilitation of the program as needed
    • Foster positive working relationships with parishes hosting the workshops
    • Provide constructive feedback to manager/director about the program, facilities, and volunteers
    • Additional Responsibilities
      • Document and maintain records with regard to those attending marriage preparation in keeping with CFLF and Archdiocesan standards, particularly those related to sacramental preparation
      • Maintain billing and payment records
      • Process inventories and assemble marriage preparation materials
      • Collaborate with pastors and the marriage preparation team and attend meetings relevant to marriage preparation
      • Assist with CFLF communication and other publications

  • Confident presenter of prepared materials
  • Proficient in computer (Microsoft Office Suite and internet browsers) and keyboard skills as well as an ability to learn and effectively use basic computer software
  • Ability to identify issues and generate and implement effective and timely solutions
  • Ability to work with potentially difficult customers while maintaining professional behavior
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate the marriage preparation processes and procedures
  • Ability to process and ship materials; take inventory of stock and maintain event supplies

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Willingness to participate in ongoing formation as indicated by the director of the office.
  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and full assent to all magisterial teaching, particularly as it relates to teachings on marriage and family life
  • Training in and experience practicing Natural Family Planning (NFP) preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant college degree preferred 

 

OFFICE HOURS & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel to rural location(s) within the archdiocese (Northeast Nebraska) about once per month; may require weekend overnight stay
  • Maintain regular office hours with flexibility to meet the needs of ministry partners and co-workers
