POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees of the Catholic Church are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Individuals' public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Omaha, such that can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. The Music Ministry Director is required to be an active, practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing.
Ensures adherence to diocesan and parish policies regarding music for liturgies.
Supervises and assists other music leaders and accompanists.
Plans and conducts the rehearsals for the choir.
Develops a collaborative relationship with Youth and Children's Music personnel.
Manages and ensures all activities follow the spirit of the law for copyright licenseagreements.
Ensures the care and tuning of all parish musical instruments.
Develops strong working relationships with local churches and other community resources.
Attends monthly Liturgy Committee meetings.
Selects and provides music for parish liturgies.
Plans, researches and selects appropriate music for the choir, including instrumental music, and serves as a resource to the pastor and other parish groups.
Strives to build the repertoire of worship for the parish and facilitate full and active participation in liturgical celebrations.
Provides weekly communications on liturgical plans for weekend masses to all involved in the liturgies.
Seeks to combine the traditions of the Catholic Church with the contemporary for a blending of the new and the old.
Openness to organize new approaches: bell choir, men's funeral choir, children's choir, etc.
Leads couples in planning music for wedding liturgies.
Develops and maintains the guidelines for wedding and funeral liturgies.
Assist families in planning and selecting music for funeral liturgies.
Prepares liturgies for 1st Communion, 1st Reconciliation, Confirmation and RCIA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Lives a strong Catholic faith with a desire to create a dynamic worship environment for the parish.
Strong working knowledge and experience in Catholic Liturgical practices, styles and music appropriate for Liturgy.
Willingness to work closely with the pastor
Strong working knowledge and experience in group dynamics.
Strong working knowledge and experience in building a team focused on excellence.
Identifies and develops musical talent.
Ability to coach and mentor musicians.
Ability to motivate and teach a diverse group of people.
Ability to build a cooperative and welcoming environment for al musicians and individuals expressing interest in music ministries.
Professionally trained, skilled and accomplished organist, pianist and choral conductor.
Computer skills in Word, Internet searches and e-mail communications.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Arts in Music or the equivalent training and experience
Experience a plus in applying for the position
Organist desired or willingness to learn
